Bus, Van, and a Ferry: Traveling to Koh Chang, Thailand

Thursday, June 11, 2015 to Friday, June 12, 2015

Thursday was spent traveling.

At 7:30 am I was picked up and taken to the travel agency to wait for the bus.  After about 30-40 minutes we finally boarded the large bus. The bus was crowded, and therefore uncomfortable.

Around 12 pm we get off the bus for a break and to get our “stickers”, a red sticker with writing on it. The stickers indicated where we were going after the border, for me it was Koh Chang.  After the break, we got back on the bus and drove 5 minutes to the border. First, we passed through immigration on the Cambodian side. This includes giving them my exit paperwork, a stamp in the passport, and fingerprinting. Then, I walked about 10 minutes to the Thai Immigration building. After some more paperwork and stamps, I WAS BACK IN THAILAND!

Some more walking, and a man approached me who recognized my sticker, and told me to wait. After some more waiting we got in a cab and were taken to a restaurant where we could eat lunch.

“Waiting” was the theme of the day 🙂

Around 2 pm we got on the minibus (or large van) for the 2nd half of the journey, the border to Koh Chang. Not only was I SUPER comfortable, but there were some pretty stellar views.

Once we reached the ocean it was time to take a ferry to the island.

Check out this little girl I met 🙂

Her smile was contagious 🙂

Once we got off the ferry, the driver dropped me off at my hostel, Pajamas Koh Chang.

I noticed the sun was setting so I dropped everything in my room and headed to the beach. I wish I hadn’t left my camera behind because the sunset was epic. I did manage to snag a video and a iPhone shot 🙂

Being on the island felt so right. I could instantly feel the stress of traveling leaving my body, and a true sense of happiness settling in.

What did I do on Friday? Absolutely nothing 🙂

Started by the pool…

Ate some lunch… Fried Sun Dried Beef with Sticky Rice

Chilled on the beach….

Watched another sunset….

Had some dinner and watched Jurassic Park….

Traveling is never really “fun” but I think my day of CHILLIN made up for it 🙂

Absolutely LOVING Koh Chang! Can’t wait to go snorkeling on Saturday!

Love always, Arianna the Wandering Pipette
