Escape the Crowds: Temple Tour in Siem Reap, Cambodia

Tuesday, June 9, 2015

To get away from the crowds I organized a trip with Beyond Unique Escapes, to see some of the temples outside the city limits.

The tour started with Bakong, the first temple mountain constructed of sandstone.

On the way to Beng Melea we stopped by Sticky Rice Village, where they make this delicious sticky rice cake steamed in bamboo.

I had high hopes for Beng Melea, but……

it was no escape from the crowds. I was constantly getting shoved and pushed 🙁 Not fun. I was so fed up with horde of people, I rushed through the complex and took barely any photos.

Next was Banteay Srei. My tour guide said this is his FAVORITE temple because of the detailed carvings.

LUNCH TIME! Fruit and BLT sandwiches 🙂

I made a friend at lunch…

One more temple and I totally forgot the name! oops 🙁

I think my favorites were the Sticky Rice Village and Banteay Srei!

Tomorrow I am waking up early for the sunrise at Angkor Wat…will it be everything I dreamed of??

Love always, Arianna the Wandering Pipette
