His name is Poncho: Family Reunion in Cancun, Mexico

Not only am I INCREDIBLY lucky to have a large and loving family, but I am also beyond fortunate to have a family that picks places likeΒ CANCUN for family reunion πŸ™‚

This year we were missing almost half the family (The Christopher’s and The Flynn’s), but we were still going strong with 17 people!

First of all, the resort was BEAUTIFUL.

Iberostar ParaΓso Lindo

For our family we always try to find the perfect balance between large enough to keep everyone busy but small enough that we can readily find each other, and I personally think this resortΒ achieved that balance! A bonus was that the food was pretty good too! Who can say no to TACOS?!?

oh, and the resorts had a few animals roaming the ground…

Now time for the important part of family reunion…

The people

My first night we all gathered around a Hibachi grill for dinner…and shots πŸ˜‰

As the family “photographer” I am usually in charge of the family portrait πŸ™‚

So far we have established that,

1.) The resort was awesome

2.) My family is also awesome

So now it is time to talk about how AWESOME Mexico is πŸ˜‰

The excursions:

Tulum

Y’all it was hot. I mean real hot. Just look at the pictures! So.Much.Sweat.

Even though it was so stinking hot, the ruins and views were still stunning!

Final thoughts…

I think it is important to visit Mayan ruins while in Mexico, but keep in mind there aren’t really any “unknown” ruins (That are easily accessible on a short vacation). Therefore, there are going to be A LOT OF PEOPLE. Be prepared. Especially, if crowds bother you, like me. Also, bring lots of water and an umbrella for shade!

Mystic Adventures

Who doesn’t love driving an ATV?!?

And swimming in a beautiful lagoon?!?

And then zip-lining into a breathtaking cenote!?!

I was VERY NERVOUS about zip-lining! So nervous, that I think one of my cousins has a video of me pacing back and forth πŸ˜‰ In the end I had nothing to be nervous about! IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! I even wished I could do it again! Mostly, so that I could do it with my eyes open, rather than squeezed shut while I scream bloody-murder πŸ˜‰

What a great excursion! We all had so much fun, and I am leaving out the BEST DETAIL!!!

WE GOT TO PET THE CUTEST RACOON EVER!!!!

His name is Poncho, and I love him. He was reluctant at first, but we are now best friends πŸ™‚

Overall, the brief trip was everything I could have hoped for and I am extremely grateful to the two people who made it all possible…

Till the next family reunion! Who knows where we will go πŸ˜‰

Love always, Arianna the Wandering Pipette
