My Inheritance: Aba’s Pastelillos


Eating is often a trip down memory lane.

For me, theΒ dish, the dish that brings back the strongest memories, is pastelillos.

Specifically, Aba’s pastelillos.

When visiting my grandparents in March, I asked Aba to teach me her ways. Rather than receiving money or other materialistic items, I was getting her knowledge and advice, which, quite frankly, is the best kind of inheritance πŸ™‚

This pan. Not sure when Aba acquired this pan (she calls it her “wok”), but *almost* every pastelillo I have consumed in my life has been fried in this pan.





I’m not sure if mine will every be as good as Aba’s, but I can try πŸ˜‰ And more importantly, I can keep the tradition alive.
