After waiting in the train station for a bit, ok more like over an hour, I’m not used to this whole “just get on the train thing”, I boarded my train to Salzburg. When I got on and saw all the empty seats I was like, “Sweet I can have a spot at a table!”. So I proceeded to unpack my goodies from the market.
- A Baguette
- Stilton Cheese
- Dried Meat
- Mixed Olives
- Fresh Apricots
Then I started to look around and think, “hmmmmm there seems to be seat numbers…”. Then I looked at my ticket and realized I had a seat number. So I packed up my stuff and headed to seat number 95.
Then I started to look around and think, “hmmmmm there seems to be different coach numbers…”. Then I looked at my ticket and realized I had a coach number, and OBVIOUSLY I was in the wrong coach. So once again I packed myself up and headed to the CORRECT seat in the CORRECT coach.
Third time is a charm 😉
When I arrived in Salzburg, I had a short walk to the hostel where I quickly checked in and grabbed a quick shower. Then I was off!

I had some food leftover from lunch, but I wanted to find a little something extra, so I headed to a brewery with the hopes of finding some food stalls in the biergarten.
Not only was the biergarten awesome but I was able to get some food, specifically a “bosna”. A bosna is like a hot dog, consisting of grilled bratwurst, onions, and a blend of mustard and curry powder. SO FREAKING YUMMY.
So, about the beer. If you know me, you know I’m not a beer drinker. Never really acquired the taste. But since I was in a biergarten I also got some beer, because you know “when in Rome”, but after about 5 sips I just couldn’t drink anymore. I’m sure the beer was excellent, just not for me 😉
After the brewery I started walking along a trail on Mönchsberg, a small mountain overlooking the city.
The views just kept getting better…
This couple tugged at my heart strings…
Now it was time to walk back down…
Salzburg is truly beautiful!
This brief taste of Salzburg got me so excited for the exploring that was to come!
