Sadly, it was time for our trip to end. Worse even, our FEARLESS LEADER had to LEAVE US!!! 🙁
After an early morning breakfast with Johnny so that I could say goodbye, Alex, Juliane, and I, joined the other guests at the hostel for a fishing village tour. The bike ride was only 15-20 minutes, but it was SMOKIN HOT.
Arriving at the fishing village, we met a local (with excellent english) who explained the activities:
- Get in traditional fishing boat.
- Fish for crabs.
In the boat we go….
This is how hot it was…. DO YOU SEE THE SWEAT?!?!?
The games were fishing (we lost), a boat race (we lost), and tug of war (we lost). The winning tug of war team is by the water:
Some days you feel like every picture you take looks like “poo” and then this happens….
Or black and white…
We didn’t get back to the hostel until 1ish and I WAS STARVING! Good thing it was time for the best Bahn Mi in town!
Banh Mi Phuong
I got the BBQ Pork sandwich…nomnom
The rest of the afternoon I relaxed in the blissful air-conditioning of my room. I will NEVER take air-conditioning for granted EVER AGAIN.
After happy hour, I was again STARVING, and we headed to Morning Glory for some local food. You may have notice by now, but when I am hungry, the food photos are definitely lacking! I would love to go back with more patience and better lighting 🙂
After dinner, the streets were PACKED. The town was celebrating the new moon 🙂 Many people bought floating candles so that they could make wishes. The river looked stunning with all the floating candles (very Tangled-esqe).
P.S. Taking photos at night is SO SO HARD
I am sad that the Buffalo is over, but what an experience! Johnny was truly AMAZING and if you are ever in need of an “Adventure” tour guide in Vietnam let me know, and I’ll get you in touch!
Love always, Arianna the Wandering Pipette
